The Internet and Education

Ask Jeeves! ( http://www.askjeeves.com) .  This site is a good one because it allows our children to ask a question and then click on the "ask" button and results are then several questions that allow the user to refine the search and make sure the answers are what they want. Electric Library (http://www.elibrary.com).   This is a good site but this one will cost a little bit..  $60.00 a year.   This one has access to a lot of newspapers and magazines that sometimes will require a normal user to pay a subscription to.  This site has excellent search options and will save lots of time as far as that is concerned.
Kid's Connect (http://www.ala.org/ICONN/kidsconn.htm).   This site will allow our children to pose a question and get a response from a school library media specialist.  You will also find a list of sites that students have found interesting and they are organized by subject. B.J. Pinchbecks's Homework  Helper(http://tristate.pgh.net/pinch13) . This site was created by a 11 year old boy and his father from New Brighton, Pa. This will provide you with more than 450 sites concerning science, English, history and music.
My Virtual Reference Desk (http://www.refdesk.com) This site is updated weekly and it does have an "ask the expert" section.   It can direct you to magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias and search engines.   It also has a homework helper for students, with resources geared for them. Ask Dr. Math (http://forum.swarthmore.edu/dr.math/) .  This group of Swarthmore students, know as the "SWAT TEAM" have been recruited to help in the answering of K-12 math questions.
The K.I.D.S Report (http://wwwscout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/KIDS/index.html)   This provides a list of web sites suggested and reviewed by children.  A archive will allow the user to check the older issues.  Some of the topics that can be found here, science experiments, U.S. History, ancient civilizations and the planets to find Web sites other students recommend. Have you heard of NetDay ??  This would be an excellent opportunity for you or your company to help in providing our schools with the assistance they need to get hooked up to the net.  Please stop by the following site to find more out about it ..

Ask An Expert (http://njnie.dl.stevens-tech.edu/curriculum/aska.html) this is run by the New Jersey Networking Infrustructure in Eduation Education World ( http://www.education-world.com) This site claims more than 100,000 education sites. Best thing is that it has suggested lesson plans for the teachers.

(http://www.homeworkcentral.com) This site claims to have the internets largest study collection
